What are Home Delivered Meals?

Nutritious, healthy meals providing one-third of the dietary reference intake (DRI) delivered to the homes of older adults who cannot prepare such a meal for themselves.

Who may receive Home Delivered Meals?

  • Older adults who:
    • Are 60 years or older and reside in an LCAAA served region.
    • Are unable to leave the home to attend regular social activities.
    • Are unable to prepare meals for themselves.
    • Are able to safely remain at home with meals as a support service.
    • Lack meal support/preparation from family members or other individuals.

What does the Home Delivered Meals program provide?

    • A home visit from the Case Management team for an initial eligibility assessment, telephone follow up, annual reassessment for eligibility, and additional home visits as necessary.
    • One hot meal the day of delivery and four frozen meals for the remainder of the week. These meals consist of one meat or other protein, and two vegetables. Once a month there will also be an extra bag that will consist of bread, milk, and fruit.
    • Daily social contact and wellness checks from a LCAAA staff or volunteer delivering the meal.
    • Note: Home Delivered Meals provides a regular diet only. Special diets such as diabetic, renal, and vegetarian are not available.

How much do Home Delivered Meals cost?

  • There is no minimum charge for Home Delivered Meals, voluntary contributions are accepted and encouraged according to one’s financial ability. Contributions support the operation of the Meals on Wheels program. All contributions are voluntary, private, and confidential.

Who delivers Home Delivered Meals?

  • Meals are delivered by staff and volunteers. Delivery schedule depends on meal recipient location.

 

Voluntary and confidential contributions are always accepted and appreciated.

Congregate Meals Sites

What are Congregate Meal Sites?

Meal sites at different locations based on service area that provide a healthy balanced meal while socializing with others.

Who may attend the Congregate Meal Sites?

  • Older adults who:
    • Are 60 years or older and reside in an LCAAA served region.
    • Are able to leave their home whether by their own transportation or transportation provided by LCAAA
    • Would like to have a healthy well balanced meal while socializing with other older adults in their area

What does the Congregate Meal Site program provide?

    • A home visit from the Case Management team for an initial eligibility assessment, telephone follow up, annual reassessment for eligibility, and additional home visits as necessary
    • A hot lunch
    • Weekly Social contact with staff and other older adults
    • Note: Congregate meal sites provides a regular diet only. Special diets such as diabetic, renal, and vegetarian are not available.

How much does attending the Congregate Meal Site cost?

      There is a $1.50 contribution that is required for each weekly visit to the site once you are enrolled in the program. You are welcome to donate more if your financial abilities allow it, but it is not required. You can attend as a visitor for a contribution of $4.00 that is required each time you visit.

 

 

Emergency Food Bank

The Food Bank Program distributes surplus and salvage food to individuals or families 60 years and older. Eligibility is determined by the applicant’s monthly income and their emergency need for food. The Food Bank is not a steady food supply nor can we guarantee the quantity and type of food available. Note: this service can only be received once a year, per person.
